Description Siegfried Seibert 2025-10-28 11:38:14 UTC
In the instructions for the HTML Gallery Wizard consernind the albums export wizard it is said: "The Albums selection mode allows you to select items from albums that you want to export to HTML. ... You can use the next three tabs Tags, Searches, and Labels to refine your selection based on tags, labels, or previous search results in digiKam."

Actually if you selected an album and want to refine the album selection with tags or labels, the selection is not refined. Instead the wizard searches the total digikam database and opens additional albums with this - mostly very huge - search results.

I don't understand the problem. You can mark images with a green flag beforehand and then select them in the HTML gallery, and then all images with a green flag will be used.
Or you can create a search beforehand and save it, for example, as "gallery." Then you can select this search, and it will use the images.

If you select an album, all the images will of course be used; labels, tags, and search are not filters.

We may need to adjust the documentation slightly; by "finer selection" we mean the specific selection of images using tags, labels, and search functions.

Yes that, would be useful. I was already familiar with what you said in your comment 1. But when I red the documentation, I had the impression that labels, tags and searches are for the refinement of the albums selected. My mistake. Sorry.

I ask to Mistral AI if the modified English sentence with "finer selection" is right. This is the response :

The English in ReStructured Text format listed below is correct ?

"To launch the tool, uses :menuselection:`Tools --> Create Html gallery` :kbd:`Ctrl+Alt+Shift+H` menu entry, or the corresponding icon from the **Tools** tab in Right Sidebar. The tool will display a view to select the contents to export, either from current items selection, or from a list of albums. The **Albums** selection mode allows you to select items from albums that you want to export to HTML. Just check the respective albums from the hierarchical nested list. You can use the next three tabs **Tags**, **Searches**, and **Labels** to finer your selection based on tags, labels, or previous search results in digiKam."

Your ReStructuredText (RST) formatting is almost correct, but there are a few minor improvements for clarity and correctness:
Suggested Revision:
To launch the tool, use the :menuselection:`Tools --> Create Html gallery` (:kbd:`Ctrl+Alt+Shift+H`) menu entry, or click the corresponding icon in the **Tools** tab of the Right Sidebar. The tool will display a view to select the contents for export, either from the current items selection or from a list of albums.

The **Albums** selection mode allows you to select items from albums for HTML export. Simply check the respective albums in the hierarchical nested list. You can refine your selection further using the **Tags**, **Searches**, and **Labels** tabs, filtering by tags, labels, or previous search results in digiKam.
Key Improvements:

"Uses" → "Use": Corrected the verb form for instructions.
Parentheses for Shortcut: Added parentheses around the keyboard shortcut for clarity.
"Finer" → "Refine": Changed to the correct verb form.
Conciseness: Simplified some phrasing for readability.

As you can see the original English sentence in this text was fine...
