SUMMARY When cutting and then pasting a file for the first time (in order to move the file elsewhere), I'm receiving "could not rename file" error on the first paste attempt, even though there are adequate permissions to move the file pasting again straight away performs the action normally STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. select a file 2. ctrl + x to cut 3. browse to a different folder 4. ctrl + v to paste (move) the file OBSERVED RESULT an error is shown "could not rename file" EXPECTED RESULT file is moved without error on the first attempt SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Fedora Linux 42 KDE Plasma Version: 6.4.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.19.0 Qt Version: 6.9.2 Kernel Version: 6.17.4-200.fc42.x86_64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D 8-Core Processor Memory: 32 GiB of RAM (31.2 GiB usable) Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT ADDITIONAL INFORMATION a few reports as well as a report on arch linux - see https://www.reddit.com/r/kde/comments/1oh3rdj/random_could_not_rename_file_error_when_cutting/

Is the location you're moving it to on a FUSE mount of any kind? If so, this is Bug 510810.
