Description Mohamed 2025-10-25 05:08:41 UTC
When opening any expandable tray from the Plasma panel — such as the system tray, clock & calendar popup, or custom widget trays — the popup window gradually increases in size but not necessarily each time it is opened by the user. I haven't yet recognized the pattern nor the reason behind this behavior.

This happens regardless of which widget is inside. Over time, the tray window becomes larger and larger until manually resized by swiping or dragging its edge to shrink it again.

There doesn’t appear to be any option to lock or reset the popup’s size, so the resizing accumulates across sessions.

#Steps to Reproduce
1- Open any expandable tray (e.g., system tray or clock popup).
2- Close it.
3- Open it again — observe that it is slightly larger than before.
4- Repeat multiple times — size keeps increasing.

#Expected Result
Popup tray should retain its previous size or reset to a default size instead of continuously expanding.

#Actual Result
Each time the tray is opened, its height/width grows a bit, requiring manual resizing with the mouse to restore normal size.

#Additional Information
1- This issue persists across several Plasma versions leading up to 6.5.0.
2- It occurs with both default and custom panel layouts.
3- No “lock size” or “reset size” option is available.
4- Tested on Wayland, I don't use KDE on X11 so I'm not sure if this is reproducible on X11.

I have some questions:
1. Are you using a non-default Plasma style or any other Plasma customizations?
2. Are you using a fractional scale factor (e.g. anything other than 100%, 200%, 300%, etc.)?

1- Yes, I'm using the latest build of darkly (fork of lightly) as Application style and Window decoration, along with "sweet" as plasma style. could it actually be one of them?
2- No.

It might be. Does the issue reproduce if you use the default Breeze themes/styles/etc?
