Description PK 2025-10-22 05:09:37 UTC
Yesterday I received Plasma 6.5 on my Neon User Edition machine.
All transparent desktop-elements (kwin menu's, panel, widgets, plasmoids, menu dashboard) have the "ContrastEffect" enabled behind them.
This effect could be activated before by editing the file plasmarc in het root-folder of a plasma-theme in ~/.local/share/plasma/desktopthemes/myTheme
By default it is not activated.
I don't know where the error lies (upstream? Neon-build). But it doesn't look right.

SUMMARY
ContrastEffect behind transparent desktop-elements allways active in Plasma 6.5

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start Plasma 6.5

OBSERVED RESULT
All transparent desktop-elements have the ContrastEffect activated in their background. This makes imho the whole desktop look less fresh and crispy

EXPECTED RESULT
if the ContrastEffect is not turned on (default) is should not work

There seems to be a bugrapport of this item https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=510818

And in reddit there is an item about it https://www.reddit.com/r/kde/comments/1od8jm4/plasma_65_blur_changed_and_looks_strangewrong_was/

I don't at all recognize kde/plasma in this change. The whole thing became ugly and there is no choice.
