Whats the highlighting set to? See bottom right corner. Can you disable highlighting by selecting Normal and then check if it affects memory usage? Also, would it be possible for you to share the file in question?

Perhaps zip compress the file, log files become much smaller after compression usually. 1. Can you tell me how many lines are there in the file? 2. Can you rename the file so that it has .txt extension (for e.g., abc.txt) and then open it and see if it affects memory usage?
