does the menu show correctly inany other app?
Can't repro Operating System: Fedora Linux 42 KDE Plasma Version: 6.5.80 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.19.0 Qt Version: 6.9.2 Kernel Version: 6.16.9-200.fc42.x86_64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 12 × AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor Memory: 16 GiB of RAM (15.5 GiB usable) Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon RX 6600
To be clear, this isn't about the global menu *widget*, and is instead about the global menu *button* that you can add to windows' titlebars, right?

(In reply to Marco Martin from comment #1) > does the menu show correctly inany other app? Short answer - no. Long answer - Maybe? The apps I'm using the most have no menu, that is what I can reproduce. If you have an app in mind that I should test - why not, let's see.
(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #3) > To be clear, this isn't about the global menu *widget*, and is instead about > the global menu *button* that you can add to windows' titlebars, right? It's actually about the main menu under the title bar. I have no idea how it is designated, but the menu is gone when the daemon is running. Instead of it, I have a hamburger button on the titlebar. I added screenshots of Kate as an example.
Well that makes sense, then. :) When the daemon is running, it's exporting the in-app menubars to some kind of other menu UI. There are two of them: - Global menu widget (intended to be displayed on a panel) - Menu button in the titlebar You appear to have the latter. If you don't want to see your windows' menus using this little titlebar button, there are two options: 1. Remove the "Application Menu" button from the titlebar in System Settings > Colors & Themes > Window Decorations > Configure Titlebar Buttons (may be behind a three-dot overflow menu) 2. Keep it there, but don't run this daemon
