Description Raphael Rosch 2025-09-26 05:35:39 UTC
When the sidebar is open, in Documents mode, I can right click and do things to the files like "rename". I often need to change permissions of a file to get certain things to work on my projects (eg, files for a website hosted locally).

It would be great to add an option to change permissions right from kate, via the context menu, just like I can rename files or "open with". Right now I have to navigate to the right directory in konqueror, right click, permissions, etc.

In the main menu: File -> File Actions -> Properties

OR

Right click on the tab, Properties

Thank you, Waqar! I can confirm that the option exists in the File menu, but I don't have it when I click on the 'tab" (is that the same as the breadcrumbs path at the top? otherwise I don't have tabs currently enabled/open).

Can we keep the bug open so the feature is added to the Documents view context menu in the sidepanel?
That's what I think would be the most obvious place to look for the option to do this, and the others are already there (rename, open containing folder, etc). It's strange that it would be the only one missing from the list of "file actions".

Thanks for the workaround, in any case, this will certainly help for the time being.

Sure, we can keep the bug open
