Hello!

I've been a Krita user for the better part of the last 10 minutes, and created a KDE account just for posting this very small issue that I nevertheless found worth tracking.I just needed to open a PSD to resize it, and Krita was recommended to me.

I want to say the software looks stunning, very powerful, and is very fast to boot. However, to crop the canvas of the image, it took me several minutes of scrambling through menus (despite that I found how to scale the image immediatly), and this left a bad taste in my mouth as a first user ☹️

It's one of the most common things.I would like to illustrate why:
- This is the option on Paint.NET : https://i.imgur.com/xmQlzWF.png
"Size of the drawing area" (and three little dots to indicate clicking is safe and will just open another menu)

- This is the option on Photoshop: https://i.imgur.com/LbHgKqP.png
"Size of the workspace" (and three little dots to indicate clicking is safe and will just open another menu)

- This is the option on english-language Krita: https://i.imgur.com/7p94lLD.png
(also three little dots to indicate clicking is safe and will just open another menu)

- And now this is how it looked on French-language Krita, as it opened itself as by default (first launch, first time user) https://i.imgur.com/qo4Rpc0.png

Canvas ("Toile", but commonly you'd say "zone de dessin" or "zone de travail" or "document") is translated as Tableau, which is very rare and a bit counter intuitive (in computer graphics, Tableau often means "Table" instead)

You will notice the three dots are also missing (...) meaning this does not indicate that the option is safe to try and will only open another menu. This is why I clicked on almost every other option (Properties, Cut image, Offset image, Separate image) before I even thought of trying this one - as I thought clicking on it would make an immediate change and not open a prompt, so I just discarded it.

I only thought of clicking on it when I noticed the Keyboard shortcut was identical to the Photoshop one, but that's because I have prior Photoshop knowledge. Otherwise I would have likely been stuck.

Sorry for making such a big report for such a small issue, I wanted to make clear what the problem I encountered was and why it made the first time use of Krita a bit frustrating. I could not find how to embed images like on the KDE Issues website so I had to upload to imgur instead. If there is a way to attach multiple images to this ticket directly instead, please direct me as to how and I will try :)

Please keep up with the amazing work, this software looks incredible 💖

Kind regards,
Louve

Hello louve, and welcome to Krita!

Setting this bug to the 'Translation' component as I believe this is a topic for KDE's localisation team. Although I haven't confirmed it inside Krita myself, I think the screenshots are sufficient and I found what I believe to be the corresponding line (15085) in the translation file.
