On Haiku I've seen it happen also, using backspace when typing a message moves the focus out of the window, getting the focus back in the typing area and using shift-arrow keys to select last character brings up the markup and then I'm able to correct text and use the backspace.

When text is selected I can use arrow keys with shift and correct text, eg use backspace

For the record, I'm seeing the same issue in Tokodon, and as I'm using an experimental Qt6.10.0-rc I didn't report due maybe local issues. (KF6 6.18.0 and gear 25.08.1)

Looks like this got resolved when switched to Qt 6.10.1? Backspace key is working now for me on Haiku.
