I found a reproducible bug in digiKam: 1. Open a photo in digiKam. 2. Use Item → Adjust Time & Date to change its date/time. The new date is saved and displayed correctly. 3. Afterwards, assign a tag to the same photo. 4. Immediately after applying the tag, the photo’s date is overwritten and set to the current system date/time instead of keeping the value I previously set. This issue breaks chronological organization, since the photo jumps in the timeline or album sorting as if it were taken today.
The problem cannot be reproduced here. I suspect a faulty configuration on your end. The problem can occur if you do not adjust all or all possible date metadata. Then, when you write tags later, the old date will be reset by rereading the metadata. We need your settings for the Adjust Time tool. Your metadata settings and sidecar. It's best to also include a debug log of the process. Maik
