Description jaquilina 2025-09-07 07:27:56 UTC
The steps to reproduce are simple.

1) download any .deb package to your machine
2) Right click and choose the menu option extract and then extract here
3) After extraction is complete you are presented with with 2 compressed folders and debian-binary file

This is all well and good but you have to carry out an extra step and then extract the data.tar.zst to find the binary folder one is looking for.

If I on the other hand use konsole and do dpkg-deb -x package.deb folder name to extract to it extracts everything including the further compressed files that ark fails to extract.

Can ark be amended for deb files to use dpkg-deb instead?

I am willing to work on this to fix ark to use dpkg-deb. If this is desired what are the ways forward to work on this.
