Description gudvinr+kde 2025-09-03 15:50:10 UTC
SUMMARY

Resolution and scale shown both in setting section and on screen preview.

Screen preview is already quite small since settings view is huge. When it gets too small on resize it does remove this information but it happens when screen preview is way too small to display anything.

You don't lose anything without this data since it's already there just below.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Display Configuration

OBSERVED RESULT

Duplicated resolution and scale show in arrangement and setting views.

EXPECTED RESULT

Display configuration is concise and doesn't show redundant data.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

KDE Frameworks Version: 6.17.0
Qt Version: 6.9.2
Kernel Version: 6.16.4-arch1-1 (64-bit)

They are not redundant; they represent different things.

Both places show same values. When minimizing window, you lose this information in "preview".

Given that information density here is abnormally high, wherever I look at this KCM it virtually never shows resolution anyway because preview gets minuscule.

They cannot possibly show the same values. Resolution is expressed as something like "1920x1080" while scale is expressed as something like "125%".

I am fairly sure we just misunderstand each other. Here's a screenshot to show what I mean.

Right you are, I get it now. You're saying that we don't need to see the resolution and scale in the per-screen previews, because they're already shown in the settings UI. Sorry for the confusion!

That's true for the current screen, but it's also useful to show them for other screens too.

If we removed that info from the current screen as you switched which screen was current, that would be really weird.

So I don't think there's anything we can do here, sorry.

Problem here is that amount of toggles here is high and whole UI is cramped. So with usual size of the window I use for system settings, this info is hidden anyway.

I'd get it if you'd only show it inside "edit arrangement", where display preview is enlarged but when you try to cramp a lot of information in a tiny space it looks bad.
