Description hdplayer295 2025-09-01 11:42:08 UTC
Well, I edited videos multiple times in Kdenlive, and each time when I fold my laptop while editing a video and then unfolding it after several minutes, Kdenlive just freezes and crashes. This is annoying me, especially that I usually don't save my videos while editing. Luckily, auto-saving is a thing.

SUMMARY

Without any warning, Kdenlive freezes (for around 10 seconds) before crashing after putting the host device to sleep.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Kdenlive
2. Put your device to sleep (if you're on a laptop, fold it down)
3. Wait for several minutes, then wake your computer and try to make the Kdenlive window active.

OBSERVED RESULT

Kdenlive freezes, then crashes.

EXPECTED RESULT

Kdenlive shouldn't crash.

Thank you for reporting. I tested it with my Windows 10 HP Laptop following your steps. I closed the laptop for about 8 minutes but after reopening Kdenlive works OK.
Do you have some Windows settings that when closing the lid of the laptop Windows goes to hibernate?
