Comment 1 alerikaisattera 2025-08-30 18:25:53 UTC
Might be related or not, but at some point Pipewire started using 100% of 1 CPU core
Comment 2 TraceyC 2025-09-03 20:33:32 UTC
This looks a lot like bug 478309, which had a fix merged in 6.0
Are you seeing any symptoms in the UI, aside from the high CPU usage? In the previous report, content preview windows from the task manager were empty

Sending to KPipeWire
Comment 3 alerikaisattera 2025-09-04 06:07:53 UTC
There are no obvious problem in UI, but screen recording software, which supposedly requires Pipewire under Wayland, does not work
Comment 4 TraceyC 2025-09-04 18:12:10 UTC
Thanks, that's helpful information. I'll let those more familiar with the pipewire integration take it from here.
Comment 5 alerikaisattera 2025-10-09 09:55:54 UTC
This doesn't happen anymore. Either it has been fixed or was caused by misconfiguration
Comment 6 alerikaisattera 2026-03-24 07:51:11 UTC
Happens once again on Plasma 6.5.5, but without any effect on screen recording

Unfortunately, Plasma 6.5.5 is no longer maintained by KDE. You might try seeing if there are codecs available from your distro that aren't installed.

I found another report with the same pipewire errors - bug 493570
If you have an NVIDIA GPU, you can try what worked for that person, which was to remove environment variables

GBM_BACKEND=nvidia-drm
__GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia
__NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1

If you need further advice or support for the version of Plasma you have installed, please contact your distribution, who bears the responsibility of providing help for older releases that are no longer receiving updates from KDE.

If this issue is still reproducible in Plasma 6.6.3 or later, feel free to re-open this bug report.

Thanks for understanding.
