Description kimimaru 2025-08-25 19:47:20 UTC
SUMMARY
I'm trying to record a portion of the screen with Spectacle, but no matter what a notification pops up saying it's recording. The notification goes over part of the screen I'm recording with no way to change it.

Turning on Do Not Disturb mode still shows the notification. In System Settings, turning off Critical notifications to show in Do Not Disturb mode doesn't change anything, and neither does low priority notifications. Spectacle bypasses every notification setting which is not desirable.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Spectacle.
2. Start a recording.

OBSERVED RESULT
A notification saying Spectacle is recording is shown when starting a recording.
A notification saying Spectacle is finishing the recording is shown when ending a recording

EXPECTED RESULT
No notification is shown either when starting or ending a recording because I turned off notifications via Do Not Disturb mode.
