Description kropt 2025-08-25 12:06:32 UTC
We have an MSI laptop with an Intel Core i5-10500H 2.5GHz processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 mobile graphics card.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. install artix linux 6-16-2-artix1-1
2. instal plasma-desktop xorg nvidia-open-dkms nvidia-utils linux-firmware-nvidia
3. some setup
4. startx

OBSERVED RESULT
About a minute after startx, the laptop reboots.

EXPECTED RESULT
KDE session launched, desktop open, computer functioning normally

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
(available in the Info Center app, or by running `kinfo` in a terminal window)
Linux/KDE Plasma: artix linux 6-16-2-artix1-1
KDE Plasma Version: plasma-desktop-6.4.4.1
KDE Frameworks Version:
Qt Version: 6

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
There are no fatal errors in the xorg logs.
Because the kernel crashes, dmesg also shows nothing.
I tried running simple windows on Xorg and couldn't reproduce the problem, so I decided that the issue was with kde.

I have been using KDE for two years, but after updating KDE, I can't do anything about my laptop crashing.

This may or not be a crash, but we need to determine that first.

As the message at the top of the summary says, if something crashed, we need a backtrace of it so we can figure out what's going on. Can you please attach a backtrace of the crash using the coredumpctl command-line program, as detailed in https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports#Retrieving_a_backtrace_using_coredumpctl ?

If there are no crashdumps, something else is happening.

Thanks.
