Created attachment 184246 [details] Devices are missed here SUMMARY Currently is i have a mobile phone connected to my system (either by usb cable or thru the KDE Connect) there is no easy way to get to it's files in Amarok. I would like to propose an easy way to access my music files (that exist on my Phone, USB drive) by make these devices show up in Home > Files on Amarok's Sources list (the left pane) STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Connect a Phone to the computer (e.g. by USB Cable or, preferably, thru KDE Connect ) 2. try to add the phone's music files to amarok OBSERVED RESULT there's no easy way/shortcut to access those files EXPECTED RESULT When such a device is available it should showup somewhere on Amarok (e.g.: by going Amarok > Home > Files > [Device]) SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Fedora Linux 42 KDE Plasma Version: 6.4.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.17.0 Qt Version: 6.9.1 Kernel Version: 6.15.9-201.fc42.x86_64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Graphics Processor: llvmpipe
Thank you for the report! I am seeing my own phone in Files' places listing, so the functionality is there and its availability seems to be something system dependent. The other bug you've filed notes you are using Flatpak version; I assume this is the case here, too. If so, the Flatpak's issue tracker at https://github.com/flathub/org.kde.amarok/issues might be the best place to document this issue.

Thanks for your reply :) Yes, I'm using the flatpak (both bugs) since fedora hasn't updated amarok rpm to 3.3 (it's still on 3.2.2). If you're seeing it in you system then it's probably related to flatpak. I'll wait until fedora gets the RPM version of Amarok to 3.3. and check if there's no problem. I believe you can close this. If it doesn't work i'll comment back and you can reopen it. If so, the Flatpak's issue tracker at > https://github.com/flathub/org.kde.amarok/issues might be the best place to > document this issue. I'll submit a bug there, then. Thank you

An update to the issue: After Fedora updated the rpm package (now on Amarok 3.3.1) it indeed does show remote devices and allows to play music directly from it with no issues (native package, not flatpack!). (on recent androids - v14 - it works, apparently, flawlessly. Android 8.1 does work very slowly, but i don't believe it's relevant considering it's a very old system with support soon to be discontinued) If Tuomas agrees, I believe the issue can be closed! Thank you :)
That's great to hear! Thank you very much for confirming - closing.
