Description Damglador 2025-08-14 18:24:33 UTC
SUMMARY
I think not many people switch between NumLock states often, so being able to just lock it in one state would be nice, to avoid accidentally turning it on/off. I personally want to always have it off, because numpad keys for me are set to control media. NumLock that doesn't do anything can then be used as a hotkey for something.

Locking modifiers seems unnecessarily complicated and out of scope.

Supporting key rebinding so the number lock key doesn't perform a number lock is something we should support. Generic key remapping is doable manually with xkbmaps, we should provide a GUI for it, there's open tickets for that.

And that's exactly what I want, but with a way to define the default state. So it can be set to on or off on boot and after that NumLock will just send NumLock signal that can be used for hotkeys but won't touch NumLock state
