SUMMARY Media Frame Widget will not display pictures from a standard SMB Network Share on a NAS. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Very simply, I have a Network Drive with a Shared Folder. To access my Network Drive in Fedora KDE, I simply open Dolphin File Manager > "Network" > "Shared Folders (SMB)" > "NAS Name", then I see my Shared Folder, I bookmarked them in dolphin and that's it. If I give Media Frame the path location, it will not display any photos. I have confirmed this with two other helpful Redditors on the KDE Subreddit. 2. 3. OBSERVED RESULT Media Frame does not display any photos.. Interestingly, if I click Media Frame after the path has been setup, it actually opens the path to the NAS and shows me the photos in Dolphin, it just won't display them in the frame. EXPECTED RESULT I give Media Frame the path to my shared folder of photos on my NAS and it should display the photos. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Fedora KDE KDE Plasma Version: 6.4.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.27.0 Qt Version: 6.9.1 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION From the Redditor who helped me track this bug: Okay, I can replicate that now I get file:///usr/share/plasma/plasmoids/org.kde.plasma.mediaframe/contents/ui/main.qml:195:17: QML Image: Protocol "smb" is unknown I browsed for the shared remote directory via smb://<nas_host>/<shared_directory> in Dolphin then bookmarked it If you mount the drive with CIFS it will work, but this is not ideal for some. This would allow mediaframe to use that path. This needs to be reported as a bug though. So the developers are aware of it at the very least.
Can confirm.
