SUMMARY
The text (including the clock) and icons on the lock screen are displayed in black instead of white, and the wallpaper image brightens. A similar thing occurs in the shut down screen, where it might be intentional.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Lock the screen

OBSERVED RESULT
Black text and wallpaper brightening

EXPECTED RESULT
White text and wallpaper darkening

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux: Fedora Workstation 42
KDE Plasma Version: 6.4.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.17.0
Qt Version: 6.9.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I thought this might've been related to me using Breeze Light, but creating a fresh Fedora KDE VM and updating to Plasma 6.4 did not cause this bug to occur even with what seem like the same settings. This bug occurs on my EndeavourOS desktop as well. The EOS desktop Plasma was originally installed as a 5.x version a couple of years ago and updated all the way through to 6.4, while the laptop was originally using Gnome and then I switched directly to Fedora 6.x on it, which might help explain why the fresh Fedora KDE VM didn't have this issue?

If you log into a new clean user account on the same machine, does it happen there?

In your existing user account, does it stop happening if you switch your color scheme to Breeze Light?
Comment 2 hazelnot 2025-08-12 18:39:28 UTC
This doesn't happen on a fresh account, not when I use Breeze Light or a similarly modified Breeze Light as on the main account (i.e. enabling tinting all colours with the accent colour).

On my account it happens even when selecting the regular Breeze Light, but switching to Breeze Dark fixes it (until I switch back to Breeze Light).

On your normal account, what Global Theme is in use? Fedora? Or Breeze Twilight?

Can you try with each of the global themes (Fedora, Breeze, Breeze Dark, and Breeze Twilight) and see if there's a pattern of which ones trigger it, if any?

I completely forgot about global themes tbh, apparently Fedora, just modified to look like Breeze Light ๐Ÿ˜…

Breeze Dark and Breeze Twilight don't have the issue, but Breeze and my modified Fedora theme do.

...oddly enough picking Breeze doesn't even switch Plasma to the light Plasma style, though it still causes the bug.

Which lead me to also notice that using the Breeze Plasma style causes the bug to occur, but using Breeze Light doesn't.
Comment 6 Nate Graham 2025-08-18 19:34:16 UTC
If it only happens with Breeze and your modified Fedora theme, and also only on your current user account, it seems like there's something specific to your user account that's triggering this issue. It would be super helpful if you could do some more troubleshooting to try to figure out what it is.

I've been able to accidentally trigger this again, seemingly by just switching between Breeze Light, Breeze Dark, and Breeze. No idea what order I did it in since I was testing something else and didn't keep track though.
