SUMMARY In KDE Plasma, there are options to have a sound play when attaching USB or HDMI devices. This works correctly with devices that are attached through the motherboard chipset, however it does not work when devices are attached through a USB hub or docking station. It's nothing major, just a minor nitpick. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Attach a USB hub or docking station, hear the sound. 2. Attach a device through the docking station, hear no sound. 3. Attach the same device through the USB ports directly attached to the motherboard, hear the sound. OBSERVED RESULT No sound is played when USB devices are attached through the hub. EXPECTED RESULT A sound is played when a device is attached through the hub. Can confirm. I believe this may have been intentional though, to prevent the sound/notification from firing multiple times if you plug in or unplug a hub with many devices on it. Maybe we can be smarter here and catch that case explicitly so that we can trigger it for individual devices on a hub.
