Layout in Editing tab does not persist between tabs. I will disable the clip monitor and library because I like having the single viewer just for the timeline. Then I will switch to the audio tab to adjust some levels and when I return the clip monitor and library window are back. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Change the default view using the 'view' menu' 2. Switch to Audio or Effects tab 3. Switch back to have user settings overridden OBSERVED RESULT Default Layout EXPECTED RESULT User defined layout SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma:
This is not necessarily a bug. You can save your layout and then come back to it via Menu > View > Load Layout. I understand that this is not ideal, but the way the workspace layout is currently implemented means that even changing the width or the height of widgets is remembered only from session to session but not when switching between layouts. There is work ongoing to make the switching between layouts easier by redesigning that portion of the menu bar and implementing other enhancements under the hood. But I'm not sure whether your use case is amongst them. So, you can wait until this is released, or create a wish list item for the persistence of the layout without the need to save it.
