SUMMARY I tried to change the ordering, adding and removing of app links in the Application Launcher, by using the "KDE Menu Editor Version 5.27.11". After saving, the Menu Editor diligently remembers my configurations, but the actual Application Launcher remains unchanged, even after a system reboot. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Observe a list of apps in the Application Launcher 2. Right-click the Application Launcher launcher widget/button 3. Select 'Edit Applications...' to launch the menu editor 4. Make changes. Eg reorder the apps 5. "Save Document" 6. Observe a list of apps in the Application Launcher again, and check for changes OBSERVED RESULT The Application Launcher retains its initial ordering EXPECTED RESULT Application Launcher reflects the settings as set in the Menu Editor SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: x macOS: x (available in the Info Center app, or by running `kinfo` in a terminal window) Operating System: Kubuntu 24.04 KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.12 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.115.0 Qt Version: 5.15.13 Kernel Version: 6.8.0-71-generic (64-bit) ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I am a bit new to bug reporting for KDE and it is quite likely that the core problem is that some configuration file has been corrupted, causing the Application Launcher to fail at loading it. But I am also quite inexperienced in finding such files on my system. If a file deletion/reset is a likely solution, please provide the files (default) location.
Plasma 5.27 no longer receives updates or maintenance from KDE; active versions are 6.4 or newer. Please upgrade to an active version as soon as your distribution makes it available to you. Plasma is a fast-moving project, and bugs in one version are often fixed in the next one. If you need help with Plasma 5.27, please contact your distribution, who bears the responsibility of providing help for older releases that are no longer receiving updates from KDE. If you can reproduce the issue after upgrading to an active version, feel free to re-open this bug report.
