Description kde 2025-08-05 02:12:38 UTC
SUMMARY
I'd really love the ability to open files with the second application associated to them on the desktop, as it's a really useful and convenient feature on Dolphin, and it feels like that feature should exist on the desktop as well, for consistency's sake.
e.g., I have my primary app to open images set to Gwenview, with the secondary being GIMP. That makes it really easy to quickly edit an image, even if it isn't the main thing I do with images. I'd really love to have the same ability on desktop.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Change a file type's associated app with at least 2 associations
2. Middle-click it on Dolphin. It should open the second association
3. Middle-click it on the desktop. It doesn't do anything

OBSERVED RESULT
The secondary app is not launched. Nothing happens.

EXPECTED RESULT
The secondary app to be launched, consistent with Dolphin's logic.

This seems reasonable to consider.
