Feature request: 
Kate:   turn off line numbers (1)*  and mini preview (2)* by default.
nobody is is using this so don´t turn on unless you really  need it ....

Just turn them off for yourself. Changing these defaults is not a good idea. It will annoy too many people, including me.

Yes, that is an intentional default. I am sorry that this doesn't fit your needs.
