Description Daniel Yuri 2025-08-02 18:55:45 UTC
SUMMARY

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have brave brower open in two workspaces
2. Have youtube opened in brave in first workspace
3. Go to second workspace and browse web using brave

OBSERVED RESULT
Brave browser in the second workspace keeps locking up, becoming unresponsive every few seconds. You'll notice it trying to scroll down any page or highlight any test to copy and paste

EXPECTED RESULT

Brave should work no different in the second workspace just because you have brave also opened in first workspace.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.4.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.16.0
Qt Version: 6.9.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Not sure if this is a bug with KDE workspaces or an issue with brave browser. I've heard from reddit it also happens with chromium tho... I've never submitted a bug report before, sorry if I didn't do it correctly or in right location.

sudo journalctl -f > ~/logs.txt

Thanks!

hi sorry for delay, I just reproduced what I described in the report: I opened brave in a second workspace while brave was open already in the first workspace. In the second workspace I then visited reddit and had stuttering while trying to scroll and interact with reddit. It's as if brave thinks the instance in the first workspace should be the focus and doesn't work properly when used at the same time in a second workspace.

If the app can't handle multiple instances with each instance open in a different virtual desktop, it's an app issue, not a Plasma issue. Please report it to the Brave folks. Thanks!
