Dolphin. Every time I try to rename a file in Dolphin and accidentally delete the filename so that only the file extension remains (e.g., ".mp4" [dot.mp4]), the entire system crashes and must be powered off manually. STEPS TO REPRODUCE Select any file. Press F2 or choose "Rename" to start renaming the file. Delete the entire filename so that only the extension remains (e.g., ".mp4"). After this, the system freezes or crashes, requiring a hard shutdown. Additional Information: The problem occurs consistently when only the file extension is left during renaming. If something crashed, we need a backtrace of it so we can figure out what's going on. Can you please attach a backtrace of the crash using the coredumpctl command-line program, as detailed in https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports#Retrieving_a_backtrace_using_coredumpctl? Also, can you please let us know what version of Dolphin is installed on your system, and can you please copy the result of "kinfo" in as we ask for in the template? Thanks!
Actually I can´t provide the requested backtrace because I had to install the coredumpctl initially which I have done yesterday. So as soon as the problem appears again I will do so and provide you the backtrace. Actually I'am using Dolphin 25.04.03 that has been updated 2 or 3 days ago... kind regards Uwe TraceyC wrote: > https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=507551 > > TraceyC <kdedev@tlcnet.info> changed: > > What |Removed |Added > ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Status|REPORTED |NEEDSINFO > Resolution|--- |WAITINGFORINFO > CC| |kdedev@tlcnet.info > > --- Comment #1 from TraceyC <kdedev@tlcnet.info> --- > If something crashed, we need a backtrace of it so we can figure out what's > going on.
