Description Marco Jahn 2025-07-27 02:39:14 UTC
I don't have a bug to report, but rather a request for a feature that would be useful in Digikam in the future. I often download large image collections (e.g., from Reddit) and rename the files according to the person depicted in them. The filename pattern then looks like this: "[Tom Cruise]_1.jpg", "[Tom Cruise]_2.jpg", etc. These images are then placed in my image collection in subfolders with the person's name. The images used as an example would then be saved under d:\Pictures\Celebs\T\Tom Cruise. I hope that was clear enough.

Well, even though Digikam's facial recognition already works very well, it would sometimes be desirable to be able to simply read the names of unrecognized people from the file name. Because it's often easier to delete the person tags of the wrong people afterward than to add the right ones. Would it be feasible to integrate something like that into Digikam?
