open kde-connect app select a connected phone click on plugin settings use first entry (run commands) and click on its settings-icon independent of the width of the window, a new panel opens and shifts the rest leftwards click on 'navigate back' (btw, why do we need to aim to the icon? couldn't we just click the whole text?) the first click does nothing. the second click shifts the panels rightward now click on 'pause media's settings-icon the rightmost panel changes its contents to 'pause media during calls' how do we get back? no backwards icon anywhere to be seen you can only click on any item of the 'controls' list... but... still a mess (e.g. click on multimedia control, another panel shift, here we can go back... but the three panels shown now do have 'controls', 'pause media during calls' and 'multimedia controls' Please do a proper QA on the functionality i'm not sure why we have this change in comparison to the old, systemsettings integrated kde-connect It's only gotten worse? Operating System: Fedora Linux 42 KDE Plasma Version: 6.4.80 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.17.0 Qt Version: 6.9.1 Kernel Version: 6.15.8-200.fc42.x86_64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland
one more thing: i'm not sure if users will find the 'plugin-settings' icon (with text) in the upper menu-bar, especially if you are used to the old systemsettings-plugin i think this shoud be moved to the 'controls' panel instead of being placed in the menu-bar (same for unpair and ping - best placed in 'actions', dont' you think?)
Thanks for the bug report. What version of KDE Connect do you have installed? Updating to the kdeconnect product
currently installed is kde-connect-libs-25.11.70~5.gitb0246e3-1.fc42.x86_64 kde-connect-25.11.70~5.gitb0246e3-1.fc42.x86_64
I'm not seeing behavior like this on the current version of KDE Connect, 25.04.3 I notice that the packages you have indicate version 25.11.70, which is not a version I can find anywhere in the KDE Connect GitLab repo. Where did you install this from?
did you read my initial message? i'm on 6.5-dev, the repo you cannot find is here: https://github.com/KDE/kdeconnect-kde Please be so kind and install kde 6.5-dev on your system for further reference
(In reply to slartibart70 from comment #5) > did you read my initial message? Yes. > i'm on 6.5-dev, > the repo you cannot find is here: https://github.com/KDE/kdeconnect-kde I am well aware of that repo. The latest tag on that repo is v25.07.90. It's a mirror to the actual repo in Invent, it has a link to it. It has the same latest tag, which is why I asked where you had installed it from. On my Solus system running git-master, KDE Connect is version 25.04.3. I don't have git-master set up on a Fedora 42 system. Based on your response, I assume you installed KDE Connect from Discover in Fedora, supported by the fc42 tag in the tarballs. This is probably something you'll need to report to Fedora. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/ Since KDE Connect 25.11.70 is not published by the official KDE Connect repo the developers likely can't help with this. I'll let them make that determination. https://invent.kde.org/network/kdeconnect-kde/-/tags
Closing, since this is an issue with a package not published by the main KDE Connect repo. Feel free to open a new report if you find bugs with 25.04.3 or a version on Invent.
Created attachment 183723 [details] video This is reproducible in 25.04.3 1. Open /usr/bin/kdeconnect-app 2. Resize the window to be large enough (fullscreen in a 1920×953 virtual machine is enough for me) 3. Click on a connected device, then go to Plugin Settings (upper right corner) 4. Click any settings icon, then click the "Navigate Back" arrow -> first click does nothing 5. Do the same again and there's no way to get back to the 'Plugin Setting' page. And I don't understand what's the problem with the version? 25.11.70 is what's defined in the CMakeLists.txt on master. The reporter is on commit b0246e3, which is indeed present on Invent.
thanks for the support :-) Let's reopen then...
