Description Sollace 2025-07-25 12:04:34 UTC
SUMMARY

I have my system set to go to sleep after 10 minutes of inactivity and I frequently notice that when I put a youtube video on that is close to or longer than 10 minutes, if I don't occassionally move the mouse or touch the keyboard during the video, the laptop will immediately go to sleep upon the video ending.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set sleep time to 10 minutes
2. Open youtube and start watching any video longer than 10 minutes
3. Do not touch the keyboard or mouse for the entire video's duration

OBSERVED RESULT
As soon as the video ends the screen will turn off and bluetooth devices (i.e headphones) will be disconnected as the system suspends.

EXPECTED RESULT

The system should remain awake for a further 10 minutes after the video ends.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Manjaro Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.6
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.16.0
Qt Version: 6.9.1

Thank you for the bug report!

However Plasma 6.3.6 no longer receives updates or maintenance from KDE; active versions are 6.4 or newer. Please upgrade to an active version as soon as your distribution makes it available to you. Plasma is a fast-moving project, and bugs in one version are often fixed in the next one.

If you need help with Plasma 6.3.6, please contact your distribution, who bears the responsibility of providing help for older releases that are no longer receiving updates from KDE.

If you can reproduce the issue after upgrading to an active version, feel free to re-open this bug report.

I couldn't reproduce this on Plasma built from git-master, with the sleep time set to 1 minute with Freetube, but I could reproduce with Firefox

I watched a 2 minute video with FreeTube (to avoid autoplay continuing to play videos). The system did not immediately sleep after the video ended.
In Firefox I used pexels.com. The system went to sleep immediately after the video ended.
