Description harpss 2025-07-23 21:32:02 UTC
SUMMARY
"Current Screen", and other screenshot options like "Active Window" and "Select Window" aren't available as default actions when launching Spectacle, and are only available when selecting "New Screenshot" from an already running instance of Spectacle.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Launch Spectacle and go to Options > Configure Spectacle
2. Go to the General section
3. Attempt to select Current Screen in the drop down for "When launching Spectacle:"

OBSERVED RESULT
"Rectangular Region"/"Take rectangular screenshot" and "All Screens"/"Take full screen Screenshot" are the only types of screenshots available as a default action when launching Spectacle. "Current Screen" and other types of screenshots can not be selected as the default action when launching spectacle.

EXPECTED RESULT
All screenshot options available under "New Screenshot" are also available as a default action when launching Spectacle.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Fedora Linux 42 KDE Plasma Desktop Edition
KDE Plasma Version: 6.4.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.16.0
Qt Version: 6.9.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Adding all of the "New Screenshot" options to the "When launching Spectacle:" drop down might clutter it, so replacing "Take full screen screenshot" and "Take rectangular screenshot" with simply "Take screenshot", and then only showing an additional option for the type of screenshot when that is selected might make more sense.

This seems worth considering.
