Created attachment 183217 [details] Kwin capture request failed: Did not receive a reply SUMMARY I'm completely unable to take any screenshot in latest Plasma Desktop (Git vesion). None of the modes work: simply launching Spectacle, fullscreen, windowed All of them crash with the "did not receive a reply" error. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Just try to take an screenshot OBSERVED RESULT Spectacle bails out saying "Did not receive a reply". EXPECTED RESULT Spectacle should be able to take screenshots. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: macOS: (available in the Info Center app, or by running `kinfo` in a terminal window) Linux/KDE Plasma: Arch Linux KDE Plasma Version: 6.5 Dev (6.4.80 git master) KDE Frameworks Version: 25.07.80 Qt Version: 6.10.0 Beta ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I've just installed the whole Plasma Dev stack on my Arch system.
> I've just installed the whole Plasma Dev stack on my Arch system. Is this compiled from source? Is your KWin from /usr/bin/ and your Spectacle from somewhere else? If so, this is unfortunately expected. This happens because of a security mechanism from KWin. Your KWin must be from the same install prefix as Spectacle. The locations of any .desktop files that launch Spectacle can also affect where the system thinks Spectacle is from.
Not exactly, I compiled Plasma dev through the AUR so the install prefix is /usr/bin in all cases. The thing is that it fixed itself after a while but it can break again in any time (I think). The .desktop files- I don't know. I just compiled and installed the -git packages and didn't touch anything else.
It's still failing randomly: when it doesn't work, it freezes the whole graphics pipeline and half a minute later shows the "did not receive a reply".

I already posted the most info I can provide, there are no backtraces and no other way I know to diagnose, I do know that everything is installed on /usr prefix
