On Windows, it's possible to right-click the taskbar and open the Task Manager from there. I think it would be nice to have the same option on KDE for "Launch System Monitor" when doing a mouse right-click in the taskbar. Alternatively, a way to do add options to the context menu would work too, but I think this one should be available by default, even if such user customization is not available at this time. (I know this is not Windows, but this is one of the nice shortcuts from Windows.) I am using the Icons-Only Task Manager. Thanks! Operating System: Fedora Linux 42 KDE Plasma Version: 6.4.2 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.15.0 Qt Version: 6.9.1 Kernel Version: 6.15.4-200.fc42.x86_64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland
I agree this would be nice to have, but I doubt it would make sense in the context of other elements in the menu. All the options you get from right-clicking the taskbar are related to modifying the taskbar itself. None of them is related to something other than the taskbar. Having said that, I also unintentionally clicked and tried to find task manager as an option there in the past which proves your point. I just don't know how we can make it fit with the context. Also, I'm not sure about Fedora but there's a default shortcut on Kubuntu, which is `meta+esc`, it's useful if you can get used to it.
Maybe take a look at Cinnamon from Linux Mint. They manage to do something there. In regards to the shortcut: I'm aware of it, but having things just by using the mouse is nice too.
Windows + Escape loads the system monitor, it can be added to the task manager. We're not just adding it because Windows does it, if we only copied Windows we can't do anything better
