SUMMARY Sometimes fullscreen steam games like Timberborn will move from the display they were opened (also configured the be "primary") on to another display. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Run a steam game in fullscreen, example: Timberborn 2. I am not sure what exactly causes it, but this is my best guess: Idle (until the screens turns off) OBSERVED RESULT The game moves to another display. EXPECTED RESULT The game stays on the display it was opened on. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Gentoo Linux 2.17 KDE Plasma Version: 6.4.1 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.15.0 Qt Version: 6.9.1 Kernel Version: 6.12.31-gentoo-x86_64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 32 × 13th Gen Intel® Core™ i9-13900K Memory: 128 GiB of RAM (125.4 GiB usable) Graphics Processor: NVIDIA RTX A4000 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION It is possible to move the game back to the original display by disabling the other display in "Display Configuration". Annoyingly, the fullscreen game will move to the other display if it is enabled again. The game keeps running after moving back and forth.
This is most likely the game just putting the window on the wrong output, after we moved it around because of annoying temporary hotplug events. I tried to test this and debug it further, but unfortunately Timberborn went completely crazy, continously resizing the window back and forth between two random sizes when I unplugged the screen it was on, so I wouldn't call that a conclusive result. I also tested with Brotato though, and it correctly went back to the screen it was on originally when I plugged the screen back in. Can you test with another game and see if that also has the issue? Also, do other (native Wayland) fullscreen windows have the problem?
