Description Ellie 2025-07-01 16:59:38 UTC
SUMMARY

All custom window decorations disappeared from KDE system settings listing, and decorations were reset to "Breeze" when upgrading 6.3.x to 6.4.x. When I click "Get new..." in the window decoration section, and I search for the decorations I previously used, they show a simple "Use" button as if they're still installed. But there doesn't seem to be a way to use them, and I'm stuck with breeze decorations. All other themeing options like icons, taskbar theme, taskbar placement, and so on still work as before.

My apologies if there's a user error involved here that I'm not aware of.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. Pick some custom theme involving custom window decorations
2. Upgrade plasma and kwin from 6.3.x to 6.4.x

OBSERVED RESULT

Window decorations reset to breeze, can't be changed to something else anymore in the settings

EXPECTED RESULT

Custom window decorations still work and remain available in the settings to choose from

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Comment 1 Antonio Rojas 2025-07-01 17:12:49 UTC
Is aurorae installed?
Comment 2 Ellie 2025-07-01 17:18:18 UTC
I'm not sure what that is, so I searched:

# apk search auror
#

https://pkgs.alpinelinux.org/packages?name=aurorae&branch=edge

This suggests neither Alpine nor postmarketOS have a package that has a name containing that string.
Comment 3 Antonio Rojas 2025-07-01 17:33:56 UTC
Please report it to your distribution then, it is a dependency of kwin 6.4

Thanks for letting me know, I reported it here: https://gitlab.alpinelinux.org/alpine/aports/-/issues/17324
