Upgraded to Fedora 42. Window manager worked correctly for about two days but each time the screen locked, a message appeared saying the lockscreen failed and to use ctrl-alt-F1 to open a terminal session. Using ctrl-alt-F1 gave me a login screen to successfully login and continue. But now, even after several dnf updates and reboots, the only thing I get is a hugely pixelized arrow and can barely open a terminal, knowing what needs to be done to reboot. There is no problem at all when switched to a gnome session.
