Description Steve 2025-06-30 20:33:00 UTC
SUMMARY
Tooltips for Quicklaunch widget "blink" when hovering over icons

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Hover cursor over any app icon or the widget icon.

OBSERVED RESULT
Tooltip box containing the app title and description fade-in and fade-out quickly and cyclically, at a rate of roughly once per second. Its placement is centered directly under the cursor, and the app is unable to be opened if I click while the popup is visible. I have to time my click when the popup is not rendered to open the app.

EXPECTED RESULT
Tooltip box should render away from the cursor (in my case, it would be above the cursor, since my Quicklaunch bar is snapped to the bottom taskbar) to allow clicking on the app icon, and it should stay rendered as long as the cursor is hovered over the icon. Tooltip should disappear when the cursor is removed from the icon, or change title and description when moved to another app.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Nobara Linux 42 (KDE Plasma Desktop Edition) x86_64
KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.14
Qt Version: 6.9.0

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Tooltips function as expected for every other widget or app I currently use. This seems to only be an issue with the Quicklaunch widget.

This was fixed in Plasma 6.4.2. Just got the update on my distro.
