Description lojcsgit 2025-06-27 12:40:22 UTC
This is a feature request

SUMMARY
I'm asking for an option to conveniently (re)enable the specfific bluetooth adapter that produced an error while trying to connect a bluetooth peripheral. This could be done with a button next to the connect button that appears on error or if no other bluetooth devices are currently connected to the adapter it could be done automatically.

REASON
I have two bluetooth adapters that each work fine with some peripherals and not with others. Ususally I have a device connected to both. If a bluetooth adapter errors out and drops a connection or becomes unresponsive, I need to navigate to the bluetooth settings (which takes an extra click on plasma 6.4), click configure, find the adapter and disable and reenable it. It would be very nice if there was a more convenient way to do this. (disabling and reenabling bluetooth is not an option since that would disconnect the devices connected to the other adapter(s))

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This would also solve the issue with trying to connect to a peripheral while the paired adapter is disabled: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=506264

This is an interesting idea, but history shows us that this kind of workaround will bite us in the butt in the future. It would be much better to debug why your Bluetooth adapter isn't working or pairing with devices properly.

I see. The individual problems I had that could be solved by turning bluetooth off and on again felt too specific, but I understand not wanting to include a bandaid solution. (Problems include a knockoff adapter intermittently losing power and buggy peripheral not disconnecting/connecting properly). Would you consider having the 'open bluetooth settings' button available in the bluetooth system tray menu without another click if there's enough space for it (like it was pre-6.4)? It's okay if no. Thanks for your work
