Description Sylens 2025-06-23 18:53:27 UTC
I'm facing constant daily plasmashell crashes daily, and I don't know what is causing it, because I get no error messages. But the crash happens randomly, two-three times a day. I got this bug appearing lately, like two weeks ago, since a few major plasma updates. It sometimes happens when I try to click on the kickoff menu, or the panel menu up arrow, but sometimes it just happens on its own. Then when thsi happens, the panel disappears for a moment, and then reappears. It never happened before. I'm using CachyOS which is technically Arch. But I experienced this same issue on EndeavourOS which is also Arch.

Operating System: CachyOS Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.4.0

Unfortunately these crashes all look different. Two are the same crash deep in Qt's network code, so no KDE relation there.

One is deep in the Qt QML engine, which is also in Qt and impossible for us to debug.

One is in libQuickChartsControls, which is in KDE code, but unfortunately missing debug symbols so we can't debug it.

It seems like there may be a deeper issue on your system that's the root cause for all of these diverse crashes. If you've done any customization, I'd recommend logging into a new clean user account on the same machine and see if the issues stop. If they do, then something customized by yo is the culprit, and you'll need to figure it out.

Beyond that, I'd recommend you turn on automatic crash reporting, and we can capture the crash reports that way. This bug report is unfortunately not actionable. If you want to report more bugzilla tickets in the future, I'd recommend reading https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Issue_Reporting.

Thanks!
