You can't delete it. A button or so on is missing. Normally I'd characterize this as Wishlist since it's requesting new functionality, but in this case I'm going to set it to Major since it's a significant UX issue that allows you to get into a position where you effectively can't undo changes you made.

You can delete them. It's just the UX being bad. Uncheck, click save. Next time you open it, it'll be gone. It's part of our "don't edit until you apply" pattern that doesn't quite work everywhere.
