SUMMARY If I configure a notification sound for the Screen Saver's "Screen locked" event, putting the system to hibernate sometimes behaves as expected: it plays the sound once, followed by the system hibernating. Other times, it starts looping/repeating the sound continuously until the system hibernates. When this looping/repeating sound is 'stuck' it can be very loud, with no way to stop it, until the system finishes going to hibernation. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. System Settings->Notifications->Configure->Screen Saver->Configure Events->Screen locked->Play a sound. 2. Put the system to hibernate 3. If the behavior is as expected (sound plays once), try waking up the system & trying again. The bug is sporadic. OBSERVED RESULT Sometimes the sound plays once, as expected. Other times, the sound gets stuck in a buggy-sounding loop, that continues repeating until the system finishes hibernating. EXPECTED RESULT The sound should only play once, not get stuck in a repeating loop. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Neon 6.2 KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.0 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.6.0 Qt Version: 6.7.2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This is a repost of https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436806; the original post was for the exact same behavior but when the system goes to sleep rather than hibernate. I was instructed to repost this separately for when going to hibernate.
Thank you for the bug report! However Plasma 6.2.0 is no longer eligible for support or maintenance from KDE; supported versions are 5.27. (LTS), and 6.3 (non-LTS) or newer. Please upgrade to a supported version as soon as your distribution makes it available to you. Plasma is a fast-moving project, and bugs in one version are often fixed in the next one. If you need support for Plasma 6.2.0, please contact your distribution, who bears the responsibility of providing support for older releases that are no longer supported by KDE. If you can reproduce the issue after upgrading to a supported version, feel free to re-open this bug report.
