Created attachment 182121 [details] Video that shows the bug SUMMARY When trying to change the default application for the markdown files (.md) within the property window of Dolphin from KWrite to any other program the changes are not applied. To change the default program I had to remove KWrite from the program list. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 0. Ensure that the default program to open a .md file is KWrite 1. Right-click on a .md file 2. Go to "Properties" 3. Click on "Change" under the section "Open with" 4. Try to change the opening order for the programs in order to select a new default program OBSERVED RESULT After clicking on "Apply" or "Ok", KWrite comes back to the top of the list. The changes are not saved. EXPECTED RESULT The list remains as manually set. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: CachyOS Linux KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.14.0 Qt Version: 6.9.1 Kernel Version: 6.15.1-5-cachyos (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I'm not able to reproduce this bug with Dolphin 25.04.1 on Plasma built from git-master or Dolphin 25.04.2 on Fedora 42 What version of Dolphin do you have installed? Also, can you see if this problem happens with a new user? Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. The used version is the 25.04.2 on CachyOS. No updates has been applied since the problem occurred. I've just tried with a new user and seems to work. By trying again with my main user seems to properly work now. The only thing that has changed is that I manually added KWrite to the list of programs. Thank you.
I tested again on Neon Testing, where KWrite is not installed by default and Kate is set to the default for .md files I was able to change it to Ghostwriter Then, I installed Obsidian, added it to the list of apps in Properties and tried again. It was successful. Since the problem didn't appear with a new user, and can't be reproduced, I'm going to leave this in NEEDSINFO. The report will remind us to update it in 15 days. If the bug can't be reproduced in 30 days, this will auto-close.
