SUMMARY In "Open files", "Upload files" dialogs opened by applications, removable devices (e.g. USB flash drives, external HDD SSD) are not listed on the left side, while these devices are mounted and listed in Dolphin. This is not convenient. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Insert removable device 2. Open "Open files" "Upload files" dialog in application 2.a E.g. when uploading a file in https://imagebin.ca/ OBSERVED RESULT Device not listed EXPECTED RESULT Device is listed on the left SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux: Arch Linux KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.14.0 Qt Version: 6.9.0 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION It's 2025 why it's an issue? Should have added this feature long ago!
Are you using a Chromium-based browser to access that website, by any chance?
I use Firefox. Just tested Chrome, devices are nicely listed on the left when I was trying to reproduce. I'm a bit surprised that it differs across browsers and applications. This issue is reproducable on other applications, like VMWare Workstation, not just Firefox.
Can you attach a screenshot of what the dialog looks like in those apps?
Created attachment 182135 [details] File Upload dialog in imagebin in Firefox Attachment uploaded. In the screenshots, those "win_xxx" are network shares I wrote inside /etc/fstab. Some external drives are missing, e.g. 1 USB HDD and 1 USB SSD. Also a bookmark I set in Dolphin is missing too.
Forgot to change issue status.
Now the problem is clear: this isn't actually the KDE dialog, but rather the GNOME dialog. :) Non-KDE/Qt apps often use it. Unfortunately there is nothing KDE can do to make the GNOME dialog better, or make non-KDE/Qt apps use the KDE dialog instead.
NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fine...Guess I have to figure it out in other ways...
