Description rasmus 2025-05-28 19:44:01 UTC
I was playing CS2 (It was bugging the other open apps a bit) and then when I exited, I saw that my apps on my desktop had a dark background to their text. I have never seen any report of this and I've tried with ChatGPT and Gemini and they can't help me. Deleting the desktop files and adding new ones doesn't fix it, making my own .desktop files doesn't fix it, I've reinstalled KDE Plasma, I've cleared ~/.cache/

This is you, right? https://www.reddit.com/r/kde/comments/1kxo2am/why_is_there_a_dark_background_on_the_app_text/

The game suspended compositing while playing and forgot to re-activate it on quit, oops. You need to manually re-enable compositing with Alt+Shift+F12

Side note 1: the Wayland session can't suffer from this issue; I'd recommend using it instead of X11

Side note2:

That's typical; these are useless for troubleshooting. I would recommend not wasting your time with them.
