Hello, I'd like to report a bug in Dolphin that occurs after changing the click behavior in KDE System Settings to “single-click to open files and folders”. In Details View, there's an intermittent issue: When clicking on a single file, other files-sometimes above or next to the target-also get selected, as if Shift or Ctrl were being held down, even though they are not. This behavior does not happen every time, but frequently enough to be disruptive when trying to work efficiently with files. Steps to reproduce: Open System Settings → General Behavior → Enable “Single-click to open” Launch Dolphin Switch view to Details Click on any file Expected result: Only the clicked file is selected Actual result: Occasionally, multiple files are also selected - including ones above or previously selected - without modifier keys Additional notes: This issue only affects Details View. Other views such as “Icons” and “Compact” behave as expected. The problem started after upgrading to Plasma 6 and using current Dolphin packages from Debian Unstable. Please investigate and resolve this issue, or suggest a reliable workaround. Thank you for your attention.
Possible relation to another selection bug A similar issue was reported here: ➡️ https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=477724 There, clicking one folder without Shift also selects multiple folders above. In my case, it happens in Details view with files. Both bugs might share the same root cause, especially with single-click enabled.
Hello, this issue is still ongoing, even though we’re well into the Debian Stable point release cycle. No fix has been delivered yet for the bug where opening a single folder or file intermittently selects multiple items without any modifier keys pressed. On top of that, there are persistent, unresolved problems with Discover. The developer responses so far have been anything but constructive, more like waving the “it works on my machine” flag than offering real solutions. This kind of approach kills any hope for a stable workflow. It’s time to prioritize real fixes instead of pushing technical debt under the rug.
Hi - I can't reproduce this on my Fedora KDE 42 device, but marking those bugs as "See Also" for each other to call out the possible connection.
