Gross! Does it happen for any other panel tooltips? For example the ones for the Digital Clock or System Tray widgets?

But yes, probably NVIDIA-related 😩

Oddly, it only happens with the Application Launcher and the icon next to it.

I do plan to switch to AMD soon, I'm tired with all the issues.

Thanks. Very strange indeed.

If you switch to the software rendering (for testing purposes only!) in the "Plasma Renderer" config window and then restart plasmashell with `systemctl restart --user plasma-plasmashell.service`, does the issue stop happening?

You can get to the "Plasma Renderer" config window by searching for "renderer" in KRunner or Kickoff.

It does indeed stop happening.
Should I keep Plasma Renderer as Software?

No, that'll tank performance. It was just for debugging purposes, to determine that this is an issue related to hardware-accelerated graphics.

Hi - merging this in with the existing bug report in the KDE Bugtracking System, but to Nate's point, this is an NVIDIA driver issue. There's a forum post there where they ask for bug reports to be...filed? :-) https://forums.developer.nvidia.com/t/tooltip-distortion-on-kde-plasma/312358
