An example of an application displaying correctly beside different ones displaying incorrectly

SUMMARY
Whenever I receive a notification from the system, it has been replaced by a different symbol for another notification (in this instance, from discord notifications). Spotify does not seem to have this problem.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
I am unsure.

OBSERVED RESULT
The icon is incorrect for the notification.

EXPECTED RESULT
I believe that each of these notifications should have no image, or in the case of Spectacle, a preview of the image.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Arch Linux 6.12.23-1-lts (64-bit)
KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.13.0
Qt Version: 6.9.0

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I think this might have to do something with graphical memory, because some other things are behaving strangely on the desktop, and this began to the best of my memory after running some games from steam, and streaming via Sunshine in the house. I feel like this might be a side-effect of that but I am not sure where to look for logs to filter out who is the appropriate group to report to.

Also I cannot seem to remove the "software renderer in use" warning, despite having from what I understand "a more standard" setup and a very modern card.

Can you describe what's wrong about the notifications in the screenshot? It's not clear to me.

Are you using Wayland or X11?

What graphics hardware is the system using?

A mockup of the visual error

I'm using Wayland, and my graphical hardware is an AMD RX9070-XT.

This affected all sorts of notifications like for Spectacle, in which the normal icon for the application would be replaced instead by an avatar from discord. I've provided a mockup of what was happening since it seems to have corrected itself since. It did not seem to affect notifications like Spotify that could have live or updating content in the notification.

I would like to try to get any logs that might be lurking of the problem in question.

Thanks. Very strange issue. No idea what it could be caused by, or how to help you debug it though, sorry. Hopefully someone who knows more about notifications can help.

Hi - sorry if this ends up totally unrelated, but you also mentioned random graphical issues happening on your device...I noticed that your graphics card is extremely new - looks like it was released March 2025? - but the Linux kernel version you're running is the LTS release, 6.12, which was released in November 2024.

Just in case there's something that AMD would have upstreamed into more current versions of the Linux kernel to fully support that new device, could you try the most current kernel through the `linux` kernel package - currently 6.14.6 - to see if that happens to help with this issue?

Thanks!

After an update and a reboot it doesn't seem to be a problem any more. I like staying on LTS in general and mostly just update more periodically.

I'll definitely be on the look out in the future.
