Description Alain Valsemey 2025-05-09 14:53:50 UTC
Bonjour,
L'option "Nouveau virement" est affichée dans la barre des tâches, mais ne peut être activée. La seule façon de faire un virement est de créer une opération récurrente avec le choix "Virement".

Cordialement,

Alain Valsemey

Comment 3 Alain Valsemey 2025-05-09 16:43:45 UTC
Sorry, I don't see my additional comment relating to the attachment.

When I open KMyMoney (Homepage), the taskbar button for "New transfer" ("Nouveau virement") is grey and can't be activated. The situation is the same for all functions (Establishments, accounts, recurring transactions, etc.).
Comment 4 Thomas Baumgart 2025-05-10 05:21:22 UTC
Bonjour Alain,

what happens, if you select the ledger view in the left pane of the application to see the transactions of an account? Does the button become enabled? On the homepage view, no account is selected so KMyMoney does not know where to create the transaction. Hence it is disabled.

Hello Thomas,

Thank you for answering me.

When I select the ledger view and an account (I have created two
accounts), the button is not enabled and stays grey.
I precise that I use MyMoney with the 22.1 version of Linux Mint Cinnamon.

Hi Alain, Thomas,

I have the same issue on Debian 12, even when I select the ledger view.

antoine@talos:~$ cat /etc/debian_version
12.10
antoine@talos:~$ apt policy kmymoney
kmymoney:

Can you please try to use the master AppImage version (which can be downloaded from https://kmymoney.org/appimage.html) and see if that problem persists?
Comment 8 antoine 2025-05-10 13:38:47 UTC
I have the same issue with the Appimage
(kmymoney-5.1-3218-linux-gcc-x86_64.AppImage)

I have downloaded MyMoney for the first time in March of 25. I noticed
that it was already the 5.1-3218 version. The version downloaded today
has the same number and is probably the same. That's why the Transfer
button doesn't work.

Two wishes in case you answer by e-mail: remove all text from your response that you did not type for your response (like the original text which might be added below your text) and don't send HTML mails. You can see how awkward those look on our tracker on e.g. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=503963#c10) Thank you.

On the topic: I asked you to use the development version of the AppImage when you used the stable one identified as 5.1.3 (probably my fault as I mentioned master version which is another name for the development version). It currently shows a version number of at least 5.1.95 in the Help/About KMyMoney dialog and is named kmymoney-master-4305-linux-gcc-x86_64.AppImage.

Hi

I tried the development version
(kmymoney-master-4305-linux-gcc-x86_64.AppImage) and the "New transfer"
button is not available.

Screenshow showing multi purpose New button

The new button changes depending on the selected view (see attached PDF for some examples). If you hold down the New button for a few seconds a menu with all items appears. That is only available in the master version. Does that work for you to create a new transaction?
Comment 14 Alain Valsemey 2025-05-11 13:21:03 UTC
My comment is the same. In the development version (master 4305), the "New transfer" button doesn't work, like the Modify and Delete buttons. As I have already written, my only way is to create a recurring transaction.
Comment 15 Alain Valsemey 2025-05-11 16:27:13 UTC
Master-4305 version.
When I select an account in the ledger and hold down the "New transaction" button for two seconds, the item "New transfer" appears. It opens a pop-up window, which is related to online banking transactions. It doesn't allow transfer between accounts created in MyMoney.

I'm sure I responded about this earlier, but I don't see my above, so perhaps I used email and my message was not accepted. Looking in the po (translation file) "Nouveau virement" is the translation for "New credit transfer." This is NOT simply a transfer transaction between two accounts. It is something specific for accounts which have been mapped to online accounts, and such transactions are seen in the Online View, not in a regular ledger. That is why you saw the pop-up about online banking.
What you want is simply "New transaction" and you select the other account in the "Category" dropdown.

Thank you for that clarification. So, it's another function. In the 5.1-3218 version, I wanted to create a transfer between the MyMoney accounts. Looking for the word Virement (Transfer) in the French version, I used a recurring transaction. Having read your message, I have tried a simple "New transaction" and it works too. Thanks !
