SUMMARY Currently using 'Toggle Eraser Preset' function to shortcut button 'E', exchanging 'E's original function, 'Set Eraser Mode'. Also I allocated it to my pen tablet express buttons. But often 'E's malfunctioning as 'Switch to Previous Preset', which is currently allocated to button '/'. I'm not sure what's causing it, but I presume whenever I turned the Krita on, and after not using for awhile, seems relevant. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Allocating 'E' as 'Toggle Eraser Preset' 2. Using Krita after some time Thank you Krita
Hey e05035, I also use this function by default for drawing, and it's common that in the "eraser device mode" , one happen to select accidentally any type of other preset, and Krita will then just use this preset on the Eraser device. This type of confusion happens often here, then it's hard to know what preset is on the "Pen device", and what preset is on the "Eraser device". Krita can put any type of preset (even non eraser) on the "Eraser device"... So, in my case I plugged on the top of my toolbar an icon to see when I'm in the "Eraser device" mode, this way I have a feedback about what mode I'm into. And I press my key again to return to the "Pen device" before selecting a brush preset. I think what confuse you is the name of the shortcut, "Toggle Eraser Preset". It's not, and this label wasn't well designed. This function "Toggle the stylus to simulate flipping it and using a Eraser device", but once flipped, you can put any type of Brush Preset on it. By default, it's an eraser for convenience, but as soon as you select a brush preset while you are still on "Eraser Device" you associate it with the "Eraser Device" (even if it is not a Eraser Preset, all preset works, that was designed this way to allow people using the other side of their stylus as they wanted, to smear, smudge, paint, etc). But, if you are 100% sure the function has a bug, we'll need precise steps where Krita do the bug and it is reproducible all the time. Because here, with the same rigg as you have and I can't reproduce it. But I agree the label is bad, and the feature is confusing (and also the top toolbar icon I use is by default the same one as the "Eraser mode" adding another level of confusion). Eraser in Krita is a mess, always have been, and I have more than 10 years of workaround on this part of the software. I sincerly hope this part will receive love and attention at one point, but I understand it is not a priority. I'm turning this report in NEEDSINFO/WAITINGFORINFO mode, so if you find the clear steps to reproduce the bug into your next painting session, you'll be able to enter them here. I hope my post gave you some info on how to use Toggle Eraser Preset function.
