SUMMARY When searching for something in Discover, results are reported but the BusyIndicator keeps turning and never goes away. This is on 6.3.4 as .5 has not landed in Fedora yet. Will update the bug as soon as it does. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open Discover 2. Search for something, for example "KleverNotes" OBSERVED RESULT Discover shows results, if any, but the busy indicator keeps turning. EXPECTED RESULT Busy indicator disappears / the search terminates. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Launching from the CLI, this is the output. --- org.kde.plasma.libdiscover: OdrsReviewsBackend: Fetch ratings: true adding empty sources model QStandardItemModel(0x55cf6485fc90) qrc:/qt/qml/org/kde/discover/qml/BrowsingPage.qml:17:1: QML BrowsingPage: Created graphical object was not placed in the graphics scene. qrc:/qt/qml/org/kde/discover/qml/ApplicationsListPage.qml:16:1: QML ApplicationsListPage: Created graphical object was not placed in the graphics scene. kf.newstuff.core: Could not find category "Cantor (Python 3)" kf.newstuff.core: Could not find category "Cantor (Python 2)" kf.newstuff.core: Could not find category "Cantor (Python 3)" kf.newstuff.core: Could not find category "Cantor (Python 2)" [repeats...] --- SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Fedora Linux 42 KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.13.0 Qt Version: 6.9.0 Kernel Version: 6.14.5-300.fc42.x86_64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 12 × AMD Ryzen 5 5600 6-Core Processor Memory: 31.3 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon RX 6600 Manufacturer: Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. I can't reproduce this on git-master Solus or on Fedora 42. The Fedora install is pretty close to default. These lines stand out, the others appear on my systems: kf.newstuff.core: Could not find category "Cantor (Python 3)" kf.newstuff.core: Could not find category "Cantor (Python 2)" Did you install something from "Get New" named Cantor or the "Cantor" software? After installing Cantor on Fedora, however, I see " Could not find category" in output, but the spinner *does* go away after about 5 seconds How long does the spinner keep spinning on your system?

Indeed, I can reproduce this only on one of my machines. So it may be dependent on one of the backends or repositories that are configured. I can try to disable the package sources one by one to see if something changes. I don't think the spinner ever stops, but I never tried for more than 2-3 minutes. Is a longer observation timeframe helpful? About Cantor, yes I think I had installed on the machine where the problem appears. I'll double check to see if it has been removed or is still installed.

Uninstalling Cantor, the related lines disappears. The spinner ultimately goes away, but takes ~ minutes. Is there a way to log what Discover is busy with, at any time the wheel is spinning?
So if I understand correctly, the spinner is still taking minutes to disappear, even when Cantor is uninstalled? Can I ask you to create a new user and seeing if Discover still has the long running spinner with that user? Thanks.

Thanks. That was the case. It seems, however, that the issue is solved with the new Frameworks (6.14.0), that just landed in Fedora (happy to see that the busy indicator is centered, also ;) I think this can marked as solved.
